Hi all,
We've been there. Seen it all.
It was wonderful. 4 Avalonians (Han, Andy, Gerrit and me) got together before the show, at
least one more in the crowd (Frank).
Completely mesmerized by his performance last night.
21:00 sharp, the show begins. Julia Thornton
harp solo is immediately enchanting.
Then the band begins with one more extra intro, as compared to the Antwerp gig.
Zev Katz plucks his bass as if it is his mother in law... Then Nightfall sets in...
Lovely!
Never ever change. Keep that breathless charm and the night time was our time
for just reminiscing.
Our eyes got fogged by a wonderful Chance Meeting.
The whole set in a green glow with Carrickfergus, Casanova! The whole thing.
The stars shone bright in the grand finale
We meet Patricia, 20 years of lonely fanship
behind her, Bryan accepted her rose though!!!
She would love to join Avalon and completely drowns in our Bry-stories.
Afterwards we meet Lucy Wilkins, sipping at a giant Wodka with some Orange.
She recognises Han immediately, "the wicked guy from Holland", cause they've
chatted seemingly endlessly in London, last December...
Rumour has it that Han impressed her a lot with
his Bryan Ferry and Mick Jagger impersonations.
Lucy's startled a bit by the camera, but nevertheless I catch a most charming smile, we get
autographs and I carry her viola for a while...
The weird thing about this concert is that you see people in their thirties, forties and
fifties; and almost all behave as if they were at least twenty years younger. Magic!
Then it is off to the back, at the Artiesteningang. A bunch of people is waiting. The word
goes that two by two we may come in!!! It will take another 20 to 30 minutes or so, but
then indeed, it's true!
In an extremly friendly way he poses with everyone for a photograph, shakes a hand, puts
his arms around your shoulder, has a word with you.
Patricia has a wonderful photograph with a silver marker pen: "to Patricia" he
writes!
She is over the moon!!!
"Bryan don't you ever stop making music" she says when he enters the Tour
Bus, he turns around and smiles his placid smile.
What a wonderful last sight.
He hasn't stopped by a long way...
15 hours of touring to Graz that night. But they may sleep in the Bus.
Tara!

Thanks you guys, sorry to have missed you at
the 'pre-meeting'. Anyways it was great to meet you afterwards at the Artiesteningang.

Enjoyed the show, was very *surprising* and
*fresh*
..and of course, as always may have taken longer...
And there they were...Chance Meeting,Sunset,Carrickfergus,Smoke...

Agree with you there Anton, 'cause I sat 23rd
row, could very well follow the show and the audience as well.
Sometimes the place looked as it was at shambles... the following moment one could hear
the well-known needle and one time even a GSM...
Yes the party is goin' well...everyone is here... have you a future? no noo
my age doesn't matter still...

Pleased to meet Han, Andy and last but not
least Gerrit IR Yes, Gerrit it's me: 2HB from way back '93/'94? when first met on this
List, subscribed under my former compagny though, but again, great to meet you guys.
As I was told by Han tonight (friday, tnx for the long call Han) you(Gerrit) have a
Ferry/Sylvian URL as well?
The count starts: two in - two out...the row
slowly moves up...minutes became ages for my friend, as her feets slowly cooled down
too...peptalked her into Mamouna-tour, that it will be worth the waiting, I'm sure...
Chk,chk, double chk if everyone got his thingies handy for the Big Moment...
no cam with us though..bleh! But next time is the best time...you know what I mean Han,
promised. (maybe even digital, pump that disk full with kB's)

From a distance we could follow everything
what happens inside and Bryan indeed showed I never saw this before...posed very funny in
front of every one's cam...and was laughing and smiling all over the place.
LE MOMENT SUPREME!:
Chance Meeting: It's our turn, after two of my other friends came out, waving with their BF autographed thingies...and smiling to their ears of course...
"Hello Bryan, how are you?...welcome back
in Holland" as I spelled my name
"Fine, thank you Frank and you?"
As we both shook hands, I introduced my friend, who couldn't bring out one bloody word as
she melted...(it's his eyes, she always tells me afterwards) Bryan reaches hands to her
too, as he took her ATGB Booklet to sign:
"Ah...Ireen...It's a lovely name, I like that name...I should consider making
a song with that name..."
While I sang Bryan "Ireen, goodnight Ireen" he laughed hard and I handed my ATGB
CD.
"You know what, Bryan...I always wanted to do this...and after more than 25 years you
owe me this" I told him. "May I?"
"And what is it?"...before Bryan could bring out another word I bent over"
"This (((((((((Bryan)))))))))" It seems like an endless HUG...
*I EMBRACED MY HERO!*
"Well thank you...that's OK...thank you...thank you..." Bryan replied.
Ireen stand behind me as the Event took place and still couldn't bring out one a single
word...
"Thank you for all those years, call this The Hug for the New Millennium"
...and Bryan had another big laugh...
While shaking hands again...I throw him my goodbye:
"See you next time, pass my hello to your kids and Lucy as well, bye..."
Bryan: "Thank you...bye...bye"
I headed to the doors...backwards walking ...
*Meeting my Hero IR every time is not a
disappointment at all*
